Topless and feeling vulnerable.

Was looking for ideas to lock up the factory glove box door on a 40. Has anyone installed a simple cam lock?

Any ideas?

latter models(with the knob on the glove box) of the 40 can use a fj62 lock, just swap it out.

Anyone ever gotten the lock on a glove box re-keyed? How difficult?

What kind of knob are you talking about. Mine has a little pull "thingy" on the door maybe 1.5" wide and 3/8" tall. Is this the one you are talking about?

Thanks Landpimp-

at least 3 different doors, the early ones for sure will not swap, not sure about mid to late......my guess is no.

www.allegiscorp.com - this site has tons of high quality latches and locks, I found one to use when(if) I ever get around to it. Not stock and probably requires some cutting but glove box blanks are relatively cheap if you want to keep your original in stock condition.

Any update on this old thread for those that want to be able to lock their pre 1980 glovebox?

Would also need different catch for the lock's tab.

????

Yeah did this about 4 years ago when I put the soft top on. Just had to find the right depth lock, didn't have to modify the tab inside the glove box for it to work.

Keyed the same as my Con-ferr center console which is handy.

Added a large washer to the face of door for a little more finished look.

Many thanks, Alkarich. If you happen to remember the brand/model cam lock, please let me know. I'm thinking of seeing of the gas door lock is available, then I can have it match the ignition key.

Unfortunately I can't remember nor did I keep the receipt in my file.

But I'm sure it was purchased at a big box hardware store like Menards.
