Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share this with the folks here. I met Gary and Joanne at a gas station in Fernie BC the other day. They (with their two kids) are driving a camper conversion 70 series pickup over 130,000km from South Africa around the world. In the last 2.5 years they have driven from South Africa to Europe, Asia, Alaska and now they are heading through the US and Canada before dropping down to Mexico. Gary was a great guy to chat with, and gave me a quick tour of the truck.

I told him about this forum so hopefully he'll drop by to talk about the trip. Their website Cape2Cape also has a lot of info about the route and the truck. I thought my month-long road trip exploring BC was a long time, I can't imagine 3 years on the road!

Here are a couple photos, enjoy.

Also known as Springbok's. The one couple that have returned was from New Zealand though, so the poster was partially correct.

The large RSA flag on the front roof, doors, and the ZA sticker between the spare tires kind of give it away.

Also known as "Boers"

Cheers, Biltong and Cooksisters for everyone.

Thats totally COOL!

We have three kids under 6 and one older 14 and after the older one makes it through High School we have been talking about doing this with the three younger kids.
I can only dream of how fun/interesting & enlightening doing a 3 year trip as they are, must be.
Glad someone out there is doing it!!!!
Cheers Cape2Cape & happy Holidays everyone
