I'm in the process of finishing and selling my hzj45 so I'm possibly in the market for another 45. I've been watching this one...with some interest.
Global Classic Imports :: Featured Vehicle

They have a price tag of 15k with a reserve on ebay

It looks to be in great shape for its age but I'm guessing it s been resprayed. THe bed looks too spotless not to have been repainted.

I almost imported a similar one while over seas this spring but the bottom line was just a little to much for me to justify it. This one is here and I feel the price is in the ballpark at 15k.

Looking for others opinions on it as well as a fair price in this market.

I bought mine from GCI. I have no complaints about dealing with John. He was very straight forward with the condition of mine and it was delivered in promised condition. I would buy another truck from him without hesitation.

A buddy of mine called on the one linked above (About a month ago) and it was priced around 25k, it might have been even as high as 27k. Are you just going off of the reserve, because I can't find the listing on ebay.

i spoke to john about this truck last week. 15k is the start bid. the reserve is 25k. yes it was resprayed due to the paint being thin. old man's' truck that had a topper on it since new & the only damage is on the tailgate.

Thanks for the heads up. I've spoken to john once or twice and he seamed like a straight up guy. I didn't think the reserve would be that high in this market. A bit rich for my blood for rhd 83.

If only I had the money to keep the truck I just finished...

It seems his prices are getting higher and higher. I paid 18.5 for mine (3 years ago) and it is in great condition. It too, was a one owner truck out of Brisbane and also came with a metal camper/shell on it and has zero rust on it.

Out of your mind, yes I repeat out of your mind. You guys could buy 2 for that price, actually 3 and maybe 4,all with no rust and in good working order. I have a perfect rustless fj45 arkana with a new engine and clutch, radiator, tires and I paid $4500,US dollars. Just check the Australian sites,I thought that was old news by now.

stainless...I'm with you. People pay way to much for anything brought in from over seas. These guys importing them for resale are definitely making it worth there while. 25k for that truck is ridiculous.

You can buy these things here for next to nothing.
Someone is making some serious coin..
If you pay more then 3000 for a troopy here, you've been had, or it is more then exceptional.
Im not sure what transport costs to the US, but my mate is getting 2 Chevy Monza's (why??) sent from Calif to Sydney for under $6000, inc all duties etc. heaps of change out of your $25000!!

Im more than happy to help look for good aussie cruisers for you down here. test drive, store, send photos and whatever. I have a big secure yard, and live near both the Main South railway, and main Sydney - Melb Highway, which is easy for freight. I have had quite a few cruisers, worked for Toyota, and know what to look for. If you cant get a good aussie cruiser into the states for under 10k, somethings wrong.

Heres just one I found

Merbesfield,
No, I have never seen a LHD Cruiser, not even in a mining application, where they have many strange configurations.
I could only suggest going down the route Henry James took, which is a lot of work.

Merbesfield,

LHD is illegal in some states in Australia. In South Australia the vehicle needs to be 30 years old in order to remain LHD if imported. I have had RHD in the US for almost 15 years, and I don't mind. I also have RHD in Australia...for obvious reasons. The only LHD cars I've ever seen down in Oz are old American muscle- with the 'Warning: Left Hand Drive Vehicle' sticker on the rear window. My Dad put one on his Ford Ranger in Boston.:D

If you did want to do a swap, and didn't want to do it yourself as Henry James did, Land Cruiser Solutions in NH advertises that they do it for us$2500 from memory. I would say that it is only really worth it if you buy a troopy, as 40s and 45 pickups can be sourced more easily LHD.

Cheers,

Josh

I have seen the info about LCS doing swaps and the price quote. It seems hard to believe it could be done correctly for $2500.00?

I thought that too, but if you really want a LHD...:)

I remember Proffitts saying they'd do it for about $8k on an RHD they were e-baying for a customer. I'm with you, hard to believe it would be done right for that price. You can barely get a paint job for that.

Forget the price issue, why would you waist any time or money on doing it. I really do like RHD better and it makes a unique vehicle even more so especially here in the states. That's how i feel about it. Spend your money on a 5 speed and powersteering instead. Just my thoughts

Cruiser solutions does half ass work from what I've seen. I followed after some of their work on a rig my buddy had them build. He ran out of money so I finished it. If you want the whole horror story I'd be happy to share.

The parts alone would cost more than $2500

stainless hit the nail on the head. power steering and a 5speed makes a rig way more drivable than LHD
