Getting ready to move and the inspection report says replace certain outlets with GFI's. The buyers want 'em, so they're goin' in. But the ones I find at the local Home Depot don't appear to be compatible. The screw hole that is normally located between the the plug receptacles for attaching the cover plate ain't there. It would be tacky to put them in and leave the cover plate off. Then again, they never said anything about the plates, just install the GFI's. :-)
But is there something out there that will work with what's in my house? This seems too basic to be screwed up like this.

You can buy the standard "Decora" style switch/receptacle covers at homo depot.

Home Depot also sells the GFI's with plates included.

Ya, generally when you buy GFI receptacles, they include a new cover plate. Easy-peasy.

x2, indoor or outdoor?

Indoor. Outdoor you have to buy a cover plate. If you actually intend to use the outlet, buy a plate that protects the receptacle when a cord is plugged into it.

I concur..
We just call them bubble covers, (I think the proper term is continious use/CU) they come with included adapter plates for std. duplex, single receptacles, or gcfi recepts. Also you can tie in duplex rectps. on the load side of of the gfi to save the money and bother of replacing each one if they are all on the same circut.

Yeah, thanks guys. Went back and figured it out. The plates are larger and the the holes, two instead of one, on the cover plates match to threaded holes on the ends of the receptacles that I hadn't noticed before were threaded. Getting used to wearing glasses to see things close up has been a learning experience!
