I think its easier to adjust the length of the drag link under the truck. The steering wheel spline has only so many positions to choose from while the ends on the tie rod are threaded and can be set anywhere.

The steering wheel comes off very easily with the proper puller.

There are ample splines to get it lined up right...Have done it many times.

Good luck!

Any other reason for the steering wheel to be out of alignment to begin with?

If you pull it, mark the orientation, so should you need to, you could return it to it's original position later.

I had the same problem and pulled the steering wheel.
Turns out my front leaf springs were the cause. When I changed the springs, I needed to put the
steering wheel exactly where it had been before.

Do you set toe yourself?
If you do, lock the steering wheel straight ahead next time you adjust your toe.
Then it'll be straight.
If you have a shop set your toe, ask em to level the wheel for you while they're at it.

Whel Alignment

Any tyre shop wort their beans should be able to check your alignment and centre the steering.

To pull the steering wheel you need to remove the three screws holding the cover on the steering wheel/ center portion.

Then you'll see the large nut in the middle. Remove that, you don't really need a puller, just work with the wheel until it pops of. Then point the steering wheel straight ahead, and re-install.

Make sure your wheels are pointed right to begin with.

doc thanks for the tips....willl dooo

yeah pulling the wheel is easy, I drove around my street with the nut loose..........would stop, pop the nut, adjust wheel.......continue till happy.

loosen nut, but don't remove it all the way, wiggle wheel and pull towards you, the nut will keep it from wackin ya in da head ;)

adjusting the rods is really the "right" way to do it.........but ;)

well i prefer the right way..is it that hard to adjust the drag link...i know its not hard but getting it right might be..
