Well,
As of Sunday around 5:30 I pulled the 40 out of the garage with Mini truck power steering installed. So I am itching to get it out and wheel. I spoke with a Mini truck guy who is heading down with TTORA in April to Wellsville. I am thinking it would be a good time. Anyone else in??

On another note Jim, I haven't forgot about my carb just too cold to drive down now. I am in the process of cleaning up the air cleaner and linkages and getting them looking all pretty.

On yet another note If anyone has the linkages that mount on the firewall and a throttle cable for a Late (read 78 or up) FJ 40 it will save me calling CruiserDan to order some bits.
Dave

Hmm, Guess I need to take some pics of what I have and see what I need.
Dave

I can not make April, looking at CCMC and Harlan sometime, and Wellsville sometime later?

I have some work before I can hit the trail.

I would like to know how that TTORA event is since I believe they have it every year?

Check it out if you can!

Any date for april?? Really itchin' to get out !! And todays snow just makes it worse!!:bang:

Check out the TTORA ohio forum. I beleive the weekend of the 23rd??
As far as Jeep skool if the weather is nice I will likely go out on the 11th if the trails are opened up again. As per Charlie last event most of the trails were closed due to high water.
Dave

So all you cruiser geniuses, What am I missing??

I don't see the air scoop that bolts to the top of the bib or the rubber hose that connects it to the inlet of the air cleaner....;p But it looks like you have all the mission critical stuff.

Nick

I had to make a bracket to bolt to the fire wall when I converted mine over, (71 body with 75 carb)Maybe thats what the shiny black piece is in the photo Im not sure. took about 15 mins and some love on the bench vise to custom fit it.
The bracket holds one end of the longest linkage piece that is somewhat U shaped in the middle.

Warren,

He has the firewall piece for his truck. Dead center of the first pic... The black piece on the far right in the same shot supports the other end at the carb.

Nick

Thanks guys,
Well all the kpeices I had were kind of nasty looking so they received some love and some rattle can paint prior to going on the truck.
Now I just need to get down to lancaster....
Starting a new job next monday is going to make that more difficult.
Dave

Dave,
Other things still needed:
-formed steel fuel lines
-gasket, air cleaner/ carb
- four 8x1.25mm carb studs & 12mm hex nuts

The carb is tested & ready to go. Do you want me to mail it to you?

It might be easier to ship it up, I think I can figure out the placement of the linkage. I forgot I do have the two hard lines up on the shelf.
Looks like a call to cruiserdan is in order.
Dave

Dave,

I can hook you up with the gasket, studs and nuts if that's all you're short and are willing to work with good used parts. Will be in Cbus to visit Jim Thursday and can drop the stuff with him and yer carb if you want.

Nick

Thanks,
I already got on the phone and ordered parts from Dan at american toyota.
Went out and test fit the air cleaner base to the valve cover, I am trying to figure out how the linkage all goes together. Might have to go and visit Matt's 40 for guidance.
Jim, Let me know how much additional I owe you to test run and ship the carb up here. It seems like the only way I can get it on before June.
Dave

Do you still have a large boat anchor, Oh I mean transmission sitting there or did someone else need it?
Dave

Well,
I stripped and repainted my bezel, Straightened out my bent spring mounting plate and cut the lawn.
Anyone up for Jeepskool next weekend?
I will be heading down on saturday.
Dave
