Took the day off to spend with Marshall to go look at an early 70's 40 outside Toccoa, GA that has been sitting in a garage for 6+ years.....Apparently 2 owner vehicle, current owner bought it, drove it about 10 miles and then noticed gas in the oil and never got around to fixing it.....a bit of rust in the rear sill and the PO had put a sunroof in the hard top (WHY???) but all in all a good find. Look for it soon to be at Trollhole's undergoing repairs and then driven by one of our members who has way too many Land Cruisers IMHO (just jealous!). From there we traveled on down to Hotlanta to drop in on the dudes at ACC and see the plethora of Cruisers they had getting work done. While there the owner of this beautiful 40 from Alabama came by to pick it up and take it home. From there we went for a quick lunch at one of the Dwarf House's (Marshall's first experience at a Dwarf House) and then stop and visit with Peter Merriam. Peter has a small shop in Duluth (N. of Atlanta)and had a 60, a 62, and a 70 RHD 70 series on site for work. Peter got me hooked on Land Cruisers back in the early 90's and after learning that Marshall is responsible for the well made replacement carbs that Peter has seen over the years, Peter will now be using Trollhole carbs in all of his future carb replacements! Here are some pics from our day:
