I'll be tackling most maintenance job myself. And some parts call for oem. I recently purchased suspension oil for the 05 lx470 at a Toyota with the parts number but found no price difference($60). Usually the parts dept ask the make and model of the car. The last time I mentioned I have a Lexus they stated I need to go to the Lexus dealer. A serpentine belt was quoted to be $140! I opted for a cheaper belt purchased at autozone.

In general, can I just mention I have a 2005 LC so I can save a few buck from the Lexus parts i.e.) crush washers, coolant, belts, etc? Are part numbers usually the same between the two?

I'm pretty certain the "mechanical" parts are pretty much all the same. I believe you will run into differences in the interior and exterior trim. The AHC fluid should be the same. Most likely the AHC suspension parts are the same in the LC/LX when the LC finally got the AHC, but I don't have proof...

Engine/drivetrain parts are all identical. AHC parts are the same. It's mainly all the cosmetic stuff that's different.

You could go to a site like toyodiy.com and cross check the part number between the two vehicles (slow, would have to drill down for each vehicle). Alternately, just look up the part number for the Lexus or same year Toyota, then google up Toyota XXXXXX-YYYYYY and see what pops up - I have found the parts to be mostly the same subject to the things mentioned above.
