Paul, looking forward to the next meeting. I wasn't able to make it but I know next time I will for sure. I am all for the getting together of local montanians. = )

Thanks to Paul I just learned of this. I'm Darren from Bozeman and have an '82 FJ40 that I'm going through the drivetrain on and probably some other things too. I also have an '85 4Runner SR5. I've had a 64 FJ40, 72 FJ55, 76 FJ40, 85 FJ60, 89 FJ62. (This is getting to look like a trend :) I'm definitely interested in doing trails and like the earlier comment about being family friendly like Paul's meet was. Meetings are good too! Thanks for taking the time to organize all of this.

Clubs can be neat, but also they can turn into total douch-bag get-togethers. I live in Red Lodge and while i am the only FJ that likes to get out with those of us who are local, we have lot of fun going out on trails. The Mile High guys aka Billings Magic City (we refer to it as the "Tragic City") come around here and act like total asses. They tear s*** up that is not 2 track, but actual virgin ground giving us a bad name also in the process.

What I am getting at is that clubs of this nature attract all spectrum of "4x4 enthusiasts. But, what the hell, I would get together a couple of times and feel it out

Morrison, i see you are from Billings, and I dont mean any disrespect to you personally.

That's OK, but in the interests of forming a group, maybe it would be better to avoid stereotyping.

since I was born in Billings, I get to be the guy who asks everyone to tone it down on the Billings thrashing (though there are plenty of things I would like to thrash in Billings).

many thanks to Paul for the Helena get together, I attended and will be at the next one too. hopefully I will be able to drive my 60 there this next time.

my thoughts are similar to everyone else so far:
-I would like to connect with other cruisers in Montana, so a loose knit group or registery sounds better because everyone is spread out. maybe there could be local co-ordinators to get local lists of people in each region???

-I would be most interested in meeting others for a "wrenching get together." I would like to lend a hand and learn something in the process.

-I would be very interested to attend any get togethers or camping trips/trail runs, either around Missoula/Flathead, or Billings/bozeman, Helena/and east.

-I have 4x4'd extensively in SW Colorado (Durango/Silverton/Telluride), and SE Utah (Moab/Canyonlands) and have lots of information about that area if anyone is intereseted. Thounsands of miles of 4x4 trails, and trust me, nobody is going to close them in my lifetime!!!

:meh:

I was born here too and have been here for most of 59 years and I would totally agree that Billings is thrashworthy, but some are doing their best to improve things (like Larry). I would love to get together and learn some things about the CO trails. Wrenching sounds good too. Get ahold of some of us Billingsites when you get back here.

I'll go ahead see if I can't dredge up this thread, as well.

Now that I have cruiser (see the intro thread), I have a vested interest. I was part of one back in Portland many years ago and loved it, if nothing more than the social aspect.

I'm single with no kids, so I have time. I do volunteer elsewhere, but I am versed in membership recruitment and I'd be delighted to add my expertise (if you want to call it that).

That said, what's the latest and how can I help?
