The gauge fuse blows on our 90 Cruiser after the engine heats up. As long as the engine is warm, it will continue to blow.

When I started trying to trouble shoot it last week, I found that none of the resistance readings on my gauges and the coolant temp sender matched those in the spec tables in the Mitchell Manual for 90 Toyotas.

I checked a new coolant temp sender and found the resistance on it to be close to, if not the same as mine. I had my meter checked and its accurate. Sooooo- I am inclined to think that the specs in the Mitchell tables may be off-- or ---that I'm screwing up somehow.

Before I pull anything else apart, I'm hoping that I can find someone with some ideas on what's going on here or where I might get some helpful info.

disconect everything that runs on the gauge fuse. That is, go in and break the connectors on each and every thing that the gauge fuse powers. If it will drive do so and allow it to heat up and see what happens. it should not blow. Hook up each part one at a time until it blows then check out that part of the system.

gauge fuse troubleshoot

Thanks. I'll try it with everything disconnected. Assuming all's well, I'll connect the alternator/charging connection first. It stops charging after the fuse blows and I have been advised that it's because of the loss of power to the charge gauge.
