So I now know why there were 3 fuel filters on the 40 when I bought it, had some issues keeping her running, I took off the filter closest to the tank and some nice black chunks came out, What are my options?

If you do change the tank do not go with the poly tank. I have heard of a lot of people having problems with them.

I did some research, Kreem, POR15 & KBS all have products to remove rust, clean and seal the tank, Anybody ever do this?

Just use the vaccume at the local car wash to suck the crap out of the tank like Rick did...

I know some people that have used the POR gas tank fix, but to be honest, just get a new tank if there is any question. You can get them through CDan.

If it is not leaking, I would maybe to the simple clean, pull it, put in some kero, and a big handful (or more) of bolts. Shake, rinse, repeat.

I vote new steel tank from CDan. I paid $268 shipped, was here in less than a week.
Stay away from the poly tanks, waste of money. ( I tried them)

I think im going to try por15 first, going to pull it, clean it and see whats going on in there.
Who/what is cDan?

CDan in out in NM and gives a good rate on Toyota parts to mud member.

I get the same rate from my local dealer and there is no shipping charges, if you decide you want to go new.

I have been in your shoes. The prior owner did a POR15 treatment and it lasted about 5 years. Mine started leaking again recently. I bought the aftermarket steel tanks from Coolcruisers.com and couldn't be happier. Their units are real strong and 30% cheaper than the best price at the dealer.
