gas leak help

hey all , im a dual owner, 77 40 and a 2000 4 runner, about two months ago filled the 4 runner with gas , could smell fumes outside the truck , no leaks on the ground. look
ed for drips ,leaks on what I could see under the truck . nothing .. the other day fill up and park on an incline .nose up huge mistake.... leaking gas big time... move truck to flat ground, all good no leaks. so... im thinking top edge of tank maybe near fill tube , dirt ,crap on top of tank sitting there rotting from the top? gonna put it on my buddies lift ,drop the skid plate to start with , any one have similar issues? what can I expect ? and where is best tank vendor ? no going oem $$$ . has 135k on it and rust issues, go figure. lol . thanks in advance. ron

Have you heard the gas boiling in the fuel lines yet? That's a nifty sound.

I've been smelling fumes since I bought my LC. Apparently when the charcoal canister (a small coffee can looking container that, based on it's replacement cost, actually houses an entire Land Cruiser inside it) gets tired you'll start to smell fumes.

I had a gas smell, it turned out to be the filler neck. Easy fix if that is your issue. It was porous from rust, no wet leaks as the fuel would just evaporate.
