Hi all,

I noticed that Turboglide has kits for the 2.8 litre Hiace, which use a garrett t25. Does anyone have any ideas as to which T25? there are four different kinds on Garret's site. From what I read in a thread about garrett turbos and see on e-bay, there are lots that are available nearly new in NA for way cheaper than they would be out of OZ - $2-400 instead of $9-1100. The engine bay is very tight on the Hiace. There is a picture on his site of the kit installed,

but I find it hard to tell which one he has installed. Any ideas?

Any T25 with a 0.48 A/R exhaust housing will do.
That same setup is standard on the Nissan TD27. If you're going to buy new then a ball bearing turbo would be worth the extra.

However, I'd try to buy a factory turbo manifold and CT12B turbo. Packaging wise it'll be very hard to make anything aftermarket fit against the block so well.

it's a 3L engine right .?

GT25 looks bigger fot this engine .. I thought you can also go for T3 option ( see some cheaper in e-bay )

Yes it is on the big side of what you'd like. The CT12B is quite a lot smaller.

Thanks for the replies, all!
Any ideas on good sources for the factory manifold and CT12B?

I thought going with the Garrett might be better just as it seems to my uneducated eyes to be a more modern and therefore perhaps cooler running/more efficient turbo. But I do not know much about Turbos. Any idea on the power gain of running a CT12B?

Cheers,

I believe the 1KZ TE's with the CT12B are rated at up to 100kw. The engines did come with several different power ratings, some intercooled, some not.

The garrett is definitely a more tweaker friendly turbo, (more housing and wheel options, cheaper rebuilds etc) but the toyota parts are by far the easiest solution.

I can't help you with sourcing parts in your part of the world. But try toyota first and see how expensive they are.

I never realize it .. tha't true .. ?

I'm a garret believer and if I don't found my K26 pretty cheap and new .. I will be going with a garret turbo .. something from Turbonetics ..
