Well I thought I'd share my new accessory with you all. I had one of these in my 88 4Runner and miss having the luxury of checking my altitude at a glance from this little handy device when out my trips(complements of Mr. Toyota). Let me know what you think...

Looks like you did a pretty clean install. The only complaint I have ever had on these is the height. I wish they were lower profile.

It was an easy install. Just ran 2 wires through the vents on top and back to the cigarette lighter so I could have the luxury of dimming. The wires are only for the back lights, the rest is mechanical. I tried my best to match the dash, but could still go a tad darker to match better. It matches the lighter leather on the door panel perfect though. For now I have secured this with Velcro to see how it holds up. I wanted to be able to change out bulbs with ease I guess.

Thanks! The height issue bugged me at first too, but then as I searched and seen these in other rigs - FJ70, 4Runner - the clino stands above each of there gauge clusters as well so I'm not too bothered by it. The functions are worth it for me.

The stock bulbs are a bit dim so I pulled these and replaced with new ones. Only problem here is that the stock ones came with a rubber glove as seen here in the photo on the left. The rubber on these was hardened to the point that I couldn't re-use them so I just picked up some green spray paint at ACE and 2 coats gives you the desired Toyota "green". I'll post up night pics tonight.

I just use a clinometer app for my Android smartphone. And it doesn't take up any space on top of my dashboard. It also includes programmable alarms to warn against roll-over.

I think you color matched it pretty dang good. Dont get me wrong, I do like it. I really like it on the first gen 4Runner's too. I have actually thought about doing something similar, but using a smaller digital one from an old Subaru.

Yeah, here it is in my 4Runner. It certainly belongs there. I have thought about just making my own housing with some cloth and resin to try and conform it better to the dash... Maybe later on.

Never seen one in a subaru... be interested to see how that looks. Does it have the same features?

how do you mount the phone? which app do you use?

I have a Samsung Galaxy SII mounted with a windshield suction cup mount. The app is called Clinometer by BrainLaboratories. There are other free apps but this one seemed the nicest for my uses.

Nice find! I had entertained getting one of these for my LC, but with the cell phone and the UG2 already going up there (use cell for GPS as well), this app may fit the bill. The price happens to be perfect as well. Though I admit, the device itself is pretty sweet...

That looks good up there. I have always had a fondness for guages and data, the more the better.

It rains in Oregon? :flipoff2:
