so today I blew up the 1fz-fe in my 1993 fzj75 out 4wding today, I'm looking at fitting a 1hz I have sitting here to replace the 1fz, first off can I use the box with a 1hd bellhousing and are input shaft lengths between 1hd and 1fz boxes the same? would a h55f fit to the original chassis crossmember mounts will the 1hz bolt up to the 1fz chassis engine mounts? thanks

The H55F and t/case are shorter than the H15* type ,so it would need a custom crossmember to clear the panhard rods. I would go into a car yard and take some measurements of HZJ75 engine mounts.

Where did you break down? It looks like between Lancelin and Cervantes

think ill keep the h150f and get hold of a bellhousing to suit 1hz/1hd, broke down about 20km north of coronation beach, not far from home (Geraldton)

How many splines does the 1FZ FE H150 have . I think the 1HZ has 14? splines

removed the complete fzj75 wiring loom and half installed the hzj75 loom

swapped steering columns with the hzj75 one as one of the ignition plugs from the fzj75 loom wouldn't fit to the hzj75 wiring loom also looks like the 1fz-fe ac compressor will bolt up to the 1hz ac compressor bracket saves needing to get it re gassed

Some strong work going on there mate. I'd love to have the 1fz engine in my fj73 what do you reckon killed it?

cheers mate, not to sure oil related possably, started knocking when I was out camping after going through some soft beach sand on the rev limiter then it locked up about 30meters from my camp the next day, pretty good engine besides this had 390,000kms on it

Ironically, 300-400k is the factory specification rebuild based on severe usage.

Of course, that’s factory. We all know the reality.

I saw a rod put a nice hole at #4 LH side of block.

cleaned up the engine bay and getting the 1hz ready to go in
