sweet, should cross post this in Battle Born & whatever the Sacto area club section is...

1000 miles away from me, too bad.

I'd be all over that if I didnt have a m101. That trailer is in great shape.

Government Liquidation has a bunch of M105's and M101(straight sides) coming up for auction in Barstow, CA with staring bid at $150.

what? this thing went for $1600???
is this some sort of rare collectible?

The m100's go for high $ when in that good a shape.. They are very sought after collectibles. Not many around that aren't rotted out or butchered up.. into well,, a camping trailer.. Thats why when people post pics of a clean 100 and they ask about modding,, everybody says to sell it and get a 416 or canadian 101,, you can usually make serious coin if you find one clean and cheap..

so what are the differences with the 416?

man, these trailers at auction are in great shape. Too bad they're all 101s... too big for offroad IMHO.

The 416's are newer, more plentiful, And the tub is bolted to the frame so its easier to work on. Also more got released to the public than the 100's.. The 416's were still being built until the late 80's,, I've seen some as new as 87. So they have less historic value. The rarer the more value.. The 3/4t 101's can be made into great trailers,, but need to loose weight.. If you find the newer,, m101a3 it has the hummer 8 lug wheels(sometimes with the double beadlock wheels) and has a split frame, meaning the A frame is bolted to the main frame. These are great if you dump the huge box on it and build a box to fit like a 416 has, or like a chaser. The local township has one that they scrapped the box and built a custom box on for tools.. They pull it behind a small 2wd colorado. The frame in the newer one isnt that heavy. and the axle can always be changed out to a lighter duty 3500# one with the right bolt pattern. Change the coupler out scrapping the surge brake setup to a L&R and your all set..
Good luck,,,

Wow, that's very useful info Cruzzer, thanx! Lemme make sure I got it right: the m101a3 can be modded down into a trail trailer by ditching the box & swapping out the axle?

Yep,, the frame I believe is 45"x96" or so,, which would make a big box area,, but usable,, already setup as a SOA setup.. and there are used for the box too,, but I cant think of any offhand.. You could even lighten up the springpack if its too stiff,, or check the measurements,, it should match up to something else that the military used,, chevy tk or something,, It will still be heavy but not too bad.. the 3/4t 101 w/8lug wheels listed at 800# with the box,, The box and axle are most likely 60%? of the weight?? If anybody has one that the box is off can you verify weight??
