My power outlet for my Engel fridge arrived.
The pigtail on it has an inline fuse on both the pos and neg leads.
Also, the negative wire's label says: To Battery.

Is this their way of fool-proofing this?
I'm going to use the positve fuse and attach the negative (no fuse) to the car body... unless someone convinces me otherwise.

Which Engel is it? If its the newer model with the danfoss compressor it needs a really good contact with the battery when the compressor starts up. This is a major source of frustration with new fridge owners.
If the fridge has the sarafuji swing compressor it requires slightly less amps to start running.
You can try it without going directly to neg on the battery. If you need to use any extra wiring, go big.
With a lot of car fridges, you can hear them run stronger with a good power supply and they get colder.

MT27 model. Ad says it has swing motor.
Maybe one amp at 24V?

I thought they needed about 4-5 amps on 12V. In any case, the better the contacts, the better the fridge will work.

Yes, those are the fuses. They came as part of the posifit connector.
I decided to run yet another wire hrough he firewall grommet.
Positive line comes from battery and goes thru inline ATC fuse.
Ground wire now has no fuse and it runs up to the battery-chassis ground point.
I will use a 5 amp fuse to start wth.
