OK, NeverWet sounds like a product for keeping your shorts dry while rock crawling with your DD. It is actually a pretty fun product.
Please don't get mad that these pictures of of my FJC. Consider it Tech and its in the 80 section because I like this forum.

I applied the sprays after dinner on Monday night. Its pretty straight forward. Apply Step 1, two coats. Wait 30 minutes, apply 3 or 4 very light coats of Step 2. Let dry 30 minutes.
Step 1 is some kind of silicone judging from the smell and rubber like texture. Step 2 is magic.
It dries to a blueish-white haze. DON'T TOUCH IT!
Some guys I work with couldn't not touch it and rubbed it too hard and messed it up a little. Then it rained cats and dogs on Tuesday night and actually lifted it a little, but it held up.
Today, for work, we were testing competitor vehicles at a pay-to-play park. I achieved my desired result. And now I'm posting the results...

Our dept was split in two groups. I was in the afternoon group. I got there and the trucks we were testing were dusty and I was told there wasn't any mud. I took a quick lap around the course and came back with evidence to the contrary. Hopped out of my truck and announced to the group "I found the mud!"

but will it keep my shorts dry while crawling my DD!?

I'm pretty confident it would, but that mess will have to go somewhere. I'd rather not soak the seats...

Pretty cool idea...

There's another product similar that there have been a few Youtube videos about.

Is this permanent or is it more like the Plastidip?

@streetsoffire Yes, this works on wood, but it is by no means permanent. I would suggest a marine-type paint for a pool-pump-house. Or built it out of Azek)

@rockstate45 This is very much like plastidip. When I clean the truck this weekend, I'll try to get some pictures of the removal process.
There is another product called "Ultra Ever-Dry" which might be a better product, but I would imagine is about the same. The coating creates a surface covered in nano-scales fibers. Under a microscope it would look like a piece of carpet. The surface tension of the water does not allow it to try to penetrate this layer(at low pressures) so a barrier of air and fibers keeps everything clean underneath. HOWEVER, under high pressures(even a heavy rain) the water can get forced in and penetrate the layer. Also, since it is a bunch of really tiny fibers, any abrasion diminishes its properties.

@toyotaFJ I thought about doing that in a couple spots to see how it would perform, but I didn't feel like cleaning anything before the trip. I don't have any idea how it might hold up.

Rustoleum also has a product called "Rock Guard" which is like a clear plasti-dip. That might be better for underbody than the NeverWet. I have also heard of people just spraying parts with a dry silicone lubricant and that helps.

I bought my NeverWet at ACO hardware. They are going out of business and are selling it for similar prices to regular spray paint.
It would also be fun to play with with your kids. basically nothing water-based will stick(chocolate syrup, ketchup, mustard, beer, wine, siracha...) Oils and liquid soaps will stick.

Too bad it didn't dry clear. I could think of several things to paint on the back of a few friends cars :)

ugh, the three wiper blades just kills me. If it wasn't intentional I would swear it was sold as a kit in Pep Boys right next to the Yosemite Sam mud flaps and LED valve stem covers.

Every time I ride in my bosses FJC, all I can think about is the 3 eyed fish on the Simpsons :hillbilly:

F#&! That looks retarded. Never really looked at a fjc to notice this till u guys mentioned it. What was Mr T. thinking?

Haha, Yeah, lots of people comment on the triple wipers. You love it or hate it.

There are regulations on how much of the window is required to be kept clear. Two wipers can't get enough because of the aspect ratio of the glass. The only solution was 3 wipers, or a really complicated and expensive linkage. Since the plan was to mass-produce it, we get the cheaper, more reliable 3 wipers.

I like them because I think it was a good solution to the issue. It does look a little strange, but so does the whole truck. That's why I got it instead of the 4Runner. And the 4Runner didn't come in Army Green...
