On my way to work today, the truck was overheating. I also lost boost in my clutch and brakes. I knew that my water pump was leaking and I had planned to pull it tonight, along with the rad to have it recored. While I had the rad out I planned to deal with a power steering hard line that was leaking fluid. Anyway, I pulled off the road and took a look.

Wow, the water pump dropped it's bearings and twisted the shaft off which explained the overheating bit as well as the loss of boost. The fan was laying in the shroud.

so, I got towed home, thanks BCAA, and spent the day disassembling. Searched for a rad shop, found one in Langley, STS at 19926 96 ave. The family and I took a drive over the new bridge, it opened today. To and from langley including chit chatting with the rad guy was a whole 45 minutes return, IN RUSH HOUR.

I like it.

What's the toll on that new bridge? Is it both ways? Glad that trip went well, it would have been likely 90 minutes each way on the ferry.

No toll for the first month on the bridge. My wife was saying that if you register somewhere online, you can have the bill mailed to you and instead of 4 bucks per crossing, it is 3.20 or something. If you get a chip, it's 2.50 or so.

By the by, I'm glad that my water pump seized today and not up at Kenyon Sunday. :)

Sorry to hear about the damage but am glad you were local at least. I left 200th & bypass in Langley at 16:30 today, going home to Poco, but decided against the new bridge and wanted to see how much things changed on the No. 1. Wow, 100-90Kph all the way to 152nd ramp, home at 17:05 - that's never happened in rush hour. I just wonder if it will continue after they toll the damn thing.

Wow, glad that didn't happen on Sunday. Usually the seal goes and you get some advanced notice with coolant coming out the weep hole before the bearings s*** themselves.

Did you have an extra water pump on hand?

Yes, I had an 'extra' water pump on hand, probably due to the advanced warning.

STS does nice work, Sergio (if that's his name) recored my under seat heater when it started leaking. Should have just picked up a used one, I assume it would have been cheaper.

Are you getting a replacement rad. Kim, or having your old one repaired?

My intention was to have it recored but Sergio figures that it just needs to be boiled out.
