After much delay I present to you a long winded review of FullyLitLED's light kit for an FJ60.

For starters:

1. I was too lazy to put in the old incandescent for a comparison shot. I have a shot with a different LED dome light. The results are still good.

2. I could tell out of the box the rear dome light was not going to work. It's too big to fit in the housing.

3. The packaging was very nice and nothing was broken.

Onto the review:

You may have noticed I didn't include the reverse lights. They don't fit in the housing. The incandescents are narrower at the base of the bulb. The ones included are wide at the base, and do not turn and lock. I bet they are bright as heck though.

Overall thoughts:

I had to fiddle with the side markers to get them to turn on. Once I got them to stay on it was fine. I think orange LED's in the front and red LED's in the back would make a much more noticeable difference. Don't get me wrong they are brighter than the incandescents and they are cooler temperature wise. But if the bulb color matched the lens it would be a more intense color. The LED's are just a bright white. So the orange lens gets a little lighter, the red seemed to change a little less.

For the most part I am satisfied. This was a test kit so I imagine he will make adjustments for the rest of you folks.

Hope you enjoyed my review. And please ask questions!

Thanks again FullyLitLED!

I got some Red and Amber of ebay, and they look great! Gives the markers a crystal like or glass appearance.

You could try some of the colored bulb condoms. I don't think the LED's would get nearly hot enough to melt them.

not in terms of convenience, just in terms of lighting, is the one dome light bright enough to compensate for the lack of a matching rear hatch light?

Nice review - I tried the same style of reverse light LED's from a separate vendor before, and they didn't fit either (even after spending some time with the last heat sink on the grinding wheel). Went with the 45 led towers.

I also second the red/amber colors for the side markers. Did the swap to high power LED's for my and a fantastic difference.

Thanks for the write up - look forward to seeing what else the vendor offers...

I'll throw up my partial review as well. I also got the same kit as Kline, and had similar results, but I did contact FullyLit LED and he is finding sime different reverse lights and rear cargo dome light.
You allready saw what comes in the kit, and some before and after pics, so I'll just show some of the stuff I did to get thing to work.
First, the main interior dome light. The old incandescant bulb puts out too much heat and fries the plastic housing over time, so an LED was an upgrade that I've been wanting for awhile. The LED puts out a fair amount more light than stock and puts out no heat. It did take me a bit a fiddling to get it to work, but once I got it, it stayed lit. Here's the before and after. I appologize for the crappy pics, but I couldn't get my cheapo camera to like taking clear pics in the dark.

Side markers

The side maker lights require, as Kline said, a bit of fiddling to work, but they all work. I just wish that my front side marker housings weren't crumbling to dust:o I used a knife to spread the leads a bit, and it seamed to help. Here is a naked bulb before and after pic since Kline already showed what they look like under the colored covers.

reverse lights

The reverse lights required the most fiddling to work. I ended up putting them on the grinder.(not recommended) I'm sure the grinding caused one of them to give up the ghost, but they are BRIGHT! I hope Fullylit can find a good alternative (he said he will be sending us some) Here's some pics of my grinding to get them to work and the before and after of the naked bulbs.

rear cargo dome

The rear cargo light, as stated before, will not work. Fullylit is also sending us a replacement for these, but I wanted to show y'all why they will not work. They need to be about 3/16" smaller. Here is the pic:

AKcruiserfread thanks for contributing. Looks like we got a nice set of pictures there.

And dang I want some reverse lights like that! I wish they fit without modifying :frown:

minium I don't think the center dome light would be enough to light the rear cargo area. Gonna need the second one. Plus its nice having the light come on when you open the door or hatch in this case.

Thanks guys for posting these results - I was thinking those reverse lights seemed too large for the narrow housing, and that's what made me hold off on the kit, as it's the brighter reverse lights I'm after.

Will prolly get a kit once a suitable replacement is found.

Spike this should be a pretty sweet deal once the kinks are worked out.

I forgot to mention to y'all that the dome lights are backed with 3M tape. So you just peel off the backing and stick it down in the light housing. No rattling to worry about. I have a picture of it with the cover off. Let me go to my computer for it.

I can see my feet at night when the light is turned on. It's really awesome.

Thanks for the review. I can't wait till the kinks are worked out as I'd like to swap out all my lights (int/ext) as well.

There are still two exterior lights that could be swapped to LED though. So it is not a full kit.

The license plate lights and front running lights are skipped over. They should have suitable LED replacements judging by what kind of bulb they are.

I really like LED's and want them everywhere possible :D

Here are two better shots of the dome light installed:

I agree that the next few things that need LEDs are the front running lights and rear license plate lights. Those would probably benefit the most from LEDs as they both have clear housings. I also hope to see dash LEDs and maybe some LEDs for ARB turn signals (if that would work without hyperflashing) as well. If Fullylit comes up with a package that includes every LED needed it would be great. As it stands, this is going to be a great package for 60 owners. Thanks Fullylit for being so easy to work with.

Great review guys. I would like to get a full kit as well once they are available.

Maybe you can use the big rear dome light patch that didn't fit for under-the-hood lighting.

My benz has lights on the bottom of the doors so that when you open the door it lights up the ground...woudn't want to step in some dog poo or mud puddle when you're getting out of the car at night....so is there a kit for the Mercedes 300SD? If there is I would be willing to write a review for the Benz World forum or whatever other Benz site.

I think the two I have the most interest in are the reverse lights and the front running lights. I like LED courtesy lights inside, but they're already done in mine.

By the way, I tried the same "modification" to the CREE LED 1156 bulbs in the past, killing it as well, so I had one that had all of the unblemished heat sinks. It obviously wouldn't fit in the reverse light fixture, but it fit without issue in the inspection light.

Talk about a sweet inspection light upgrade! Thing is fantastically bright and a great use of a bulb that otherwise would have floated around my garage unused...

Something to do with the 1156 style light that wouldn't work for your Cruiser...
