<LOL> You can appease her by saying the A/C compressor is not engaging and since I live in TX, I won't be able to drive it much until I get this sorted out!

I appreciate all the kind words, but there's one person that doesn't think this Cruiser is cool...my wife! She *hates it*, despises it, holds it in deepest and utter contempt. It doesn't matter how great I think it looks, how proud of it I am, in her mind, it's a POS old truck that sits in front of her nice house!

>You do know he just had a Cummins 4BT swap done.

if you mean do i know it, no i didnt, im new around here. i guess that would account for the 24mpg though...i was wondering how he was getting that from a stock motor! maybe its all downhill where he lives or something!

anyway thanks for the clarification

As everybody has already exclaimed, what a beautiful, well thought out and capable rig. I like the fact that you're so loyal to it...like it's family. Congrats to you.
What is the box on the roof rack? Storage box? Tent? Can you snap a pic or two? Thanks

Hmmm...

Looks too pretty to go to Africa, better to join the Hummers and Discoveries crawling over speed bumps around town. That way you don't have to worry about the "impact...on fuel consumption".

I'm beginning to think you're going a bit to far with her...

It's an aluminum storage box custom made to fit the rack! Had the tent up there on the rack for a while, but it was too heavy, so it rides on the top of the trailer!

Thanks! She *is* a member of my family, it's my last connection to my native country, been through a lot of stuff together...

I forgot how cool it looked! Of course, the truck is going to look stupid driving around suburban Round Rock like it's leaving for Africa any day now,

it does look stupid. damn poseur:flipoff2: i was looking at the Trails last night with Princess on the cover wondering what happened to the rack.

Like everyone else here, nice rig...

Only one thing bothers me...it all seems sooo new - Heck the Shovel and Hi-Lift look like they have never been used.

Exiled, you must have the best job in the world which allows you the free time to keep everything looking this sharp...what is the secret?

The secret? Not taking pictures too close!!! There is *nothing* about this truck that would stand a close inspection. Shovel and axe are actually pretty hold, I've just re-sprayed them from time to time. Ditto with the hi-lift, repray with paint every couple of years, and keep it lubricated.

I work 60-70 hours a week, every week, and don't have a lot of free time. In fact, I spent a little over two years without doing any wheeling. Even the paint job is a wheeling-friendly paint job, up close you'd see lots of little flaws. Interior is in so-so shape, all the weatherstripping is shot, bullbar needs paint.

I restored the rack (after seven years without taking it off) in 2002, then set it against the garage and never put it back on. This is when I was getting about 12 MPG with the tired 3F and daily driving the truck. Got about 2 MPG back, every bit counts.

I'll probably take it off again soon, use it only for trips.
