Hey everyone,
As some of you have done I've moved my fuel tank to the rear under the bed. What have you done for a filler neck? I'm looking for ideas. Pics would be great.
thanx
Craig

Mud sure doesnt make it easy to upload a picture from a phone. I have a picture of fuel filler in my kayak rack album if u can find it

You could send it to my phone 661-492-5814.

That's the dilemma.

Do you cut into your bed side and floor to route the filler tube?

Here is an example from a mud member. Paging @65swb45

What tank did you go with and did you keep your stock tank?

I don’t mind some cutting. I just want to see what others have done. I went with the S10 Blazer set up. Here’s a pic

Looks good but:

I thought the S10 tank would fit sideways in front of the axle and let you keep the spare tire in the stock location.

Did you consider this, or have I misunderstood the S10 tank mod for all these years?

There are actually two types of S10 tanks. The one like I have here and a more rectangular shaped one that would fit sideways like you're thinking. At least that's my understanding...lol

find the solution for the filler neck location? I need to replace my tank (FJ40 1970)and looking for options....I will not pay $500 for new tank!!! Crazy!! Please let me know, thanks, Daniel

Is your tank in the cab? If so, I believe you can still buy a new OEM one. You can also find some decent used ones here on Mud if you place a want add under the classified sections. I would avoid moving it from its regular location if at all possible. The only reason I moved mine is that the 45 has very minimal space in the cab and I need the leg room. If not, for a 40 it's pretty easy compared to a 45. Put it in the space between the frame rails in the rear. You can use the same S-10 tank that some of us have used. You'll have to fab up some mounting straps similar to what I did. You also have to relocate the fuel filler neck and run fuel lines to the rear. Is your body still on the frame?

Yes Mightymes, the tank is under the passenger seat.....I dont have $500 to buy a new one, I was looking for a different(cheaper!!!) option(also the original one is small). Fabrication will be no problem.... I can get a new Blazer s10 tank for $65..... cheap! I will look in the adds....thanks for your advise! yes the body still in the frame...I'm doing the brakes now( lines, wheel cylinders, shoes, drums, etc) I removed the wheels and the car is on 4 towers. Thanks again, Daniel
PS: how did you solve the filler neck position?

I haven’t done anything with the filler neck yet, but I think I’m going to go through the bed floor. I’ve seen a bunch of old school wood truck beds done that way.

KT,
I think I was answering on my phone while you sent your message. I looked that that post and that looks pretty sweet! Nice, clean, and functional. I don't plan on hauling much of anything this truck so that might be the way to go.

KT, would you happen to know what fuel filler neck he used on that? I'm trying to use the Pirate site, but I'm having no luck.

nice KT40!!! Thanks! is that using a s10 Blazer tank?
Yes it is. Read a few pages earlier in the thread and it tells you that.

KT, would you happen to know what fuel filler neck he used on that? I'm trying to use the Pirate site, but I'm having no luck.
Not sure what brand filler neck Jack used. Once you get Pirate figured out, pm him.
