2006 LC with 178K on the odometer. I have recently had some wonky readings on the fuel gauge. I initially thought it was the sending unit...but reading some post found out that might not fix the problem. I am wondering if there is a relatively certain way to tell which one might be failing. I filled up today, gauge reads just a bit over empty and the distance to go reads 25 miles. Before I filled up, the gauge was buried (below empty) by the distance to go looked accurate. Super confused right now. I am reading the stepper motor thread to see if I can make a connection. Neither fix is relatively easy...

I’ve got the same issue. My fuel gauge is off around 1/8 of a tank or more most of the time. My low fuel warning light came on the other day at the 200 mile mark. (I reset trip indicator every fill up) The low fuel warning switch is part of the sending unit so in my case, I believe that’s what is going bad. My plan is to replace it soon with an OEM one.

i replaced the sender , in tank filter and rubber line in my 03.

The sender is the issue. it was completely corroded.

Bought it from partsouq for around $120

Update on indications...cranked the Rhino this morning...fuel gauge reads correctly, the "distance to go doesn't". I bought a sending unit...just need to drive the fuel out of it now...will keep everyone posted.

I have the same issue in my 2006 LC. I pulled the unit and it was squeaky clean (no corrosion), but am thinking that the contacts have worn over time. Would you mind sharing the part number for the fuel sending unit you got for your 2006? Want to make sure I get the right one. Thanks!

no need to drop the level in the gas tank to replace the sending unit.
it is accessed thru a panel under the rear seat from the inside of the cabin
