Just want to get some opinions on fuel pump longevity. I have a 2000 cruiser with 240k. On the original fuel pump. I am a believer in preventative maintenance. I am feeling like I should replace the pump before it leaves me stranded. I travel to some remote areas especially in winter for snowmobiling. What do you all think about pump replacement?

I would certainly do it if I were you. In fact, I had mine done a few months ago as PM at 179000 miles. No symptoms, I just warned the peace of mind. Bought the Denso pump for $125 and cost $125 to have it installed. Very cheap insurance IMO.

Where did you get a Denso fuel pump for $125?

I believe at the very last stages of the fuel pump going bad it makes a buzzing noise (personal experience)
So I think you shouldn’t change it unless you start hearing noises

Ok. I settled on getting one from eBay for 20.00 I figured I will just keep it in the truck in case I get stuck in the middle of nowhere. I know it probably isn't great quality but should be ok in a pinch. Thanks for your inputs.

I got my Denso pump from rock auto. I bought the $125 one that includes the strainer in the set. The pump is made in Japan.

I had my mechanic keep the old pump, and I believe it had a Denso label on it but I'm not 100% on that.
