I have a question about the fuel pump insulator for my 87 FJ60. I just replaced the fuel pump and I guess like a typical guy I read the instructions once I was done. It referenced reusing the fuel pump spacer. I also looked at the SOR site and it shows a spacer. So I looked at my installation and the spacer wasn't attached to the old pump but I do see what appears to be a spacer on the block. It looks roughly 3/16" in thickness. I did scrape the gasket off of what I thought was the block but maybe it was this spacer(insulator). Is the spacer-insulator metal? Does the thickness sound correct? Any help would be appreciated, I don't want to damage anything. Thanks

some years use the spacer.....some dont, so if there wasnt' one when you removed the old pump....dont use one, if there was.....use it.

the thing on the block I "think" is cast into the block....but its been awhile sense I looked

recall the spacer being close to 1"

This post has pics of the insulator from my 1985: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=1003020&postcount=9

The parts list shows a spacer for all years for the 2F

If you look at SOR it makes it sound like after 10/84 they should have them. Before 10/84 it sounds like they possibly could or couldn't. If the spacer is 1" then it definitely isn't there or was it before I tore it apart. Thanks for the help.

My pre 10/84 has one. It is definitely not 1" thick, more like 1/4". It is plastic.
