so last night i changed the fuel pump block and gaskets (due to the massive oil leak it had)
but after that the wifey drove it and said how much better it ran?
is it possable that the gaskets would have anything to do with this?

any thoughts?

Just guessing...maybe the fuel pump was cocked a little on the block (causing the leak) and thereby limiting the throw of the pump arm? Changing the gaskets changed the stroke of the fuel pump arm, perhaps giving it a longer stroke, or more consistent stroke.
