Fuel prices in OZ

Just some info for those who think its expensive to fill their tanks, it is not getting any better for us in OZ

$4.60 AUD or $3.46 USD per US gallon for unleaded

$4.90 AUD or $3.69 USD per US gallon for diesel

regular unleaded in Canada is 3.27165 USD per us gallon

diesel I dunno as I buy thru a card lock. it was a bit cheaper.

so oz isn't too far of Canada for prices.

I was in LA over the weekend and saw $3.19/gal for diesel, $3.09 for 91 octane unleaded. It makes you wonder if diesel is really economical, given the higher maintenance and fuel costs (more oil capacity for the 100 TD vs the V8).

funny the prices were always much higher here than the U.S. but now that the U.S. is going up...... Supposedly Mexico supplies thier own gas.

When I bought the turbo diesel I worked out the difference in fuel usage to recover the additional purchase price and it worked out at 100,000 miles over 5 years to recover the difference in upfront price. In australia Toyota hold the public to ransom for their turbo diesel vehicle I believe, it is $10000 dearer than the V8. IIRC in Italy it is the same price as the V8 and in the UK it is about $2000 cheaper. Servicing is every 6000 miles, or for extreme conditions every 3000 miles.

When gas first went over $1 per gallon we would fill up in Mex. Gas was $.47 and diesel was $.17. What happened?

I thought lots of folks in OZ purchased TD for the added range the TD provided.

Over here in Croatia price for gallon of diesel is 4.20$ and for gallon of unleaded 95 4.50$. Damn high..
