Things were going quite well so of course my fuel gauge showed up DOA one morning last week. Needle shows far less than empty.
I took some stuff apart this past weekend to test. Used the manual and everything.

Tested the fuel sender and with an almost full tank it shows 4 ohms. Seems okay. I did not remove it from the tank to check further.

I dug out an older multi-meter with a needle/gauge. Tested the fuel gauge receiver. The voltmeter needle did not really "vibrate" around 3.5V; it swung pretty widely up and back.

The receiver resistance measured 31 ohms, not "Approx 55 ohms" as the manual states.

I checked a bit via internet and unsurprisingly this gauge is unavailable new.

Should i just call around for a used gauge? Maybe the entire gauge cluster pod?

If your fuel gauge looks like this one....it is not an easy part to find and it is discontinued. I found mine on ebay.

Yes, that looks like it.
I think my diesel part number is the same except last digit is 6.
No idea what the difference between the 2 might be. 24 Volts?

Probably. I forgot about mine being 12V and JDM being 24V

I poked around more and found the part LISTED in europe. May be a phantasm as the part was in Japan: in the catalog but not actually in stock anymore.

Waiting to hear from a repair place in Richmond.

do not be surprised if an used old gauge comes with a "spike" behavior. if that happens, theres lots of info on the mud about "temperature gauge spike"
I changed mine because of that spike behavior and even the "new" ebay one at 95euros had some spikes, but not as bad as old one.

fingers crossed yours will behave well.

I have 12 and 24 v used gauges in stock in case you can't find a new one.
