I know this is a bit basic but I'm in the process of doing an efi swap into my 40 and have just decided to go with an in-tank hi pressure fuel pump. I really like the convenience of having a spin off fuel filter on my boat and diesel truck. Just wondering if it's reasonable to use a spin off type gasoline filter set up between the tank and fuel rail on the frame where it would be really easy to service. I've been digging around online and it seems that some filters are rated quite low, some quite high and most not at all. Does anyone have any experience with this? It seems like a metal canister fuel filter should be able to maintain that 40-50 psi that the engine will need. I would assume that a standard diesel, marine or even oil filter mount would work?
