I’ve heard good things about Mick and that he does nice work. Not sure if he’ll make a LHD harness for the reasons stated above, mostly unknown lengths for things being that he’s in RHD land.

Oh yea, his harnesses are for HDFTE engines out of 7* series engines, not 100 series engines. He will tell you more when you reach out.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm in contact with him now and will let you guys know how their harnesses are once I get them.

He is very responsive to say the least.

on a different subject,

Anyone know the difference between the 100 fuel pump and 70 fuel pump?

70 fuel pump part number 22100-1C410

100 fuel pump part number 22100-1C420

I have the later but not sure why Toyota made two different pumps for the same engine?

The complexity of the wiring is greater if you go with auto transmission, I would strongly suggest you join the 1hdfte conversion page on Facebook as all Australian blokes are there. Regarding the wiring you have three options:
* Thrashlux ( Jonathan )
* Slideshow performance wiring ( Jim Lemonis )
* Mick ( above mentioned )

I personally went with loom from Jonathan, the end result wasn't that satisfactory but support from Jonathan is above excellent. He was always willing to support me and help me, anyway I had to redo the loom to have the auto ECU mounted on its location ( left side ) as the loom wasn't long enough.

Doing the conversion you definitely will have to buy a good meter and get the wiring diagram of FTE and FZE, don't expect this to be plug and play.

There are some differences between the 70 and 100 series 1hd-fte, others can chime in. I would just recommend not combining things, i.e. the manual ECU would cause troubles on FTE with auto etc. There are guys running 70 pumps on 100 fte and other way in Australia without any issues.

The support structure behind the steps (inside) is not present in my truck. I looked years ago and was informed that it isn’t in the states. I too think it not only looks bad ass but that it seems very functional.

Thanks for the feedback. I will give Mick a try and see how it goes for LHD conversion. Mick does not have access to LHD cab to test fit so i'm expecting it to be a little off. But that's okay. As you mentioned it's not straightforward.

This is interesting. I'm looking at these from a mechanical prospective. Not sure how much of it is the same.

Great to hear the pumps interchange. I sourced a new pump but for a 70 series.

I have a LHD harness from Mick. I contacted him on Facebook, had a conversation at 12:30 CST, and he had my harness built SIX HOURS LATER. It arrived in Texas fully tested, taped, finished, and labeled less than 10 days later.

I picked up a manual 79 series ECU from Megazip, and it actually got released and shipped.

I’m waiting on my motor to arrive in early January. I’ll fire up the motor and let you know how it goes. I have no doubts that it will work well. Mick is impressive.

No help from myself but there is a « lot » of LHD HDJ100 in Europe

So got a new part today from Japan, I was a bit surprised when I opened up the box.

I was expecting the FTE valve cover, cover. Seen here,

That cover cover is NLA from Toyota and I was expecting the cover just without the “24valve, turbo, intercooler” on it. A Yanmar application is what I was told was coming.

Here is the actual valve cover, still readily available from Toyota.

Now here is an FT, also NLA from Toyota, it’s the older style, aluminum but has less bolts to hold it down.

Yes I know, you can swap the FTE and FT covers around, the lesser number of bolts on the FT still match the FTE head just not as many of them and vise versa.

Now here is the Yanmar for the FTE I received today.

Notice it is the same as the FT, it just has the correct number of holes for the FTE.

That's amazing! Thanks for the feedback. What are you dropping it in?

The issue with those harnesses would be immobilizer and auto. I'm doing a manual

I’m building a 79 single cab. It was going to be an FT, but I’m switching gears to a FTE.
