Hello,

I have been doing a lot of reading and luckily was able to find this portion of the site.

Yesterday I just purchased my first FJ40. It is a 1972 with 3 on the tree.

I noticed a new member intro a month back and he showed some rust on the floor boards. I have him beat by a long shot. All I see when I open the door is frame rails. I will post some pictures when I pick it up on Wednesday.

Looking forward to getting out on the trails and meeting some fellow drivers.

Hopefully I can get it road worthy and liscensed soon.

I am on Ft. Bragg so if there are any of you down here that would be all the better. I love lending a wrenching hand.

Welcome, I am guessing that you are talking about my intro and rust pics. Its getting alot better been grinding metal for 3 weekends in a row now. Post up some pics when you pick her up.

Yes,

If only my floor pans looked that good. I want to tear this whole thing apart, do my diesel swap, and do it all the right way. But I also want to enjoy it first. I think I'm going to use mostly sheet metal instead of the exensive floor pan replacements. Throw a lift under it and some shoes and then go from there with the popular things like disk brake conversion etc. Should have a 6.2 for it this week. We will see. I don't have any room in the garage (unless I can convince the wife to keep her car outside) to do another project. My 56 Ford has been there a year already.

Just remember its always easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, just start tearing it apart one day and when she asks what the heck you are doing, give her the deer in the headlights look and say something like "what, I thought you'd be happy about it"

Awesome,

I'll have to get together for lunch with a couple of you around Bragg one day. If any of you are close to Yadkin I love Mexian. If all goes well I will be able to get mine road worthy and liscensed by late Jan.

I posted some really bad night pictures on the main forum. Took me a bit to get started but seemed to run fine. Not sure if the park brake is stuck though. Came to a stop quick when I didn't give her any gas. She was hard to get started as well without putting gas down the carb.

She is ruff and as you can see I have you beat on the rust on the floor pans.

I can't wait to get her going.

I think I'm going to enjoy her for awhile with the minimum for a safe comfortable cruiser then tear her apart. Maybe with a promotion and some extra cash I will be able to do it
