26" aluminum rims, 21" double butted chromoly frame, Suntour XCD components, 18 spd.

This was a $600 bike in 1990. It's still a solid road and light trail bike.

Pop the seat, the front wheel and the stem, and get a used bike box from your local bike shop. UPS 'em fairly cheap. Not sure about international though.
 
UPS quotes $60 for a 35 pound package. I didn't enter dimensions, if we get into dimensional weight, that could really screw the pooch.

Dunno. But when I worked at the bike shop, that's how we got all ours.
