The pop pins on my swing outs seem to freeze and stick when the temps drop. Therefore I cannot release the pins to open the swing outs and getting into the truck is not possible from the back. Anyone have a solution?

ooo - I have had this problem once or twice .. and it is a pain. lucky I don't live where this happens all that much. I have found that keeping them clean and sprayed with WD or PB Blaster helps with this.

I ended up using hot water in a bag placed on the pin to thaw out.

Try turning or spinning them clockwise and they usually break free so you can pull them up. Anytime I've had mine stick I lubricate them thoroughly. Maybe a small heavy duty rope looped under the ball with a pull loop would help.

I had try spinning and then taking a pry bar under the handle. That was due to rust. I have since coated the pin in grease, no more problems

What I did was replace the ball handle with a T handle so that I could pull up the pin easier. I am afraid that with turning the pin clockwise via the handle, I will break the handle-nut connection within the handle thus rendering the handle useless. I've used fluid film and wd40 but it doesn't seem to help. It would be nice if there was some sort of anti freeze/ anti seize film that I could put on it. Obviously this only happens in the winter.

@3DFJ - What t-handle did you use? Where did you get them? I think there is a upgraded pin available now but I haven't really needed to swap mine out yet. I think McMaster Carr sells the upgraded pins - I'm sure Mike at BIO would know. I've had my rear bumper (BIO HC) on for a couple years now and I know a few minor hardware / option changes have taken place since my order.

JGRAY - This is exactly what I purchased for the handle http://www.mcmaster.com/#6477k72/=qdllzt

If the pin sticks, it's much easier to release with these. My problem is when the cold comes, and it freezes. Then I have a problem. I could see this being quite a bit of a problem if i were doing overlanding like those guys on xpedition overland.
