i repacked my wheel bearings last week. i noticed the bearings are by TIMKEN. I know Timken makes bearings. Who makes Toyota's wheel bearings? I'm thinking of buying OEM bearings and redo it again...

Timken are very good quality bearings. There's really little [if anything] to be gained by replacing them with another bearing.

Mine where Timken when I removed and cleaned/repacked them recently. I have no idea if they were replaced by the PO or still factory. I believe Toyota uses Timken from the factory. According to the technician friend of mine that helped me with the job, Timken are excellent bearings.

Both timken and koyo have been used as oem.
That's according to those in the know (link below) as well as testaments i've seen from others on the board that were original owners and found both brands,

you'll save serious dough and get the same quality product if you just buy the non-toyota branded timken or koyo replacements rather than "oem".

P.S. When I removed my Timken bearings and thoroughly cleaned them they looked almost brand new. Even if the PO had them replaced I was expecting some wear and tear after almost 60k miles in the past 2.5 years, much off-road in rough conditions. However my technician buddy said they looked perfect, so they got packed with fresh Mobil 1 Synthetic and went right back in the hubs.

Timken are good to go in my book.
