Hey Guys and Adam,

Pulled the front 3rd tonight because the pinion nut had come loose, and when I retorqued it - it was soon apparent "somefin' ain't riiiight" . Well, suspicion confirmed. Looks like the pinion was getting pulled in and out and trashed the inner pinion bearing. Looks like some teeth are chipped on the inside edge of the ring gear. Even looks like the pinion gear got into the housing on the ARB (luckily, there appears to be only aesthetic damage there). Yowzah!! Guess it's off to "The Bearded One" for a rehab.

Anyone got a 4.11 R&P in good shape they want to part with?

Yeah... that's what I figured as soon as I couldn't turn the pinion by hand with the axles out.

I'm thinking I can get away w/ R&P and a "minor" rebuild kit. The carrier bearings don't have 300 miles on them probably. Agree?

I have some gears in the garage, I'll see what ratio they are. I think they are the 4:10s that I swapped put for 3.70s a while back.

I don't know if I'll have the time to make it to Darin's tomorrow, but if I have the gears, I'll drop them off.

Fxxx man, that's s***ty. Think of it this way, between the rebuilt front end and the 37's, Dozer will be a new truck!

Let me know if you need help with anything.

Thanks guys. I guess if we aren't beakin' $hit, we aren't wheelin' hard enough!

That'd be great Alex... give me a holla' at 919 3TOYOTA when you roll through. I live about 5mins off 40 but can meet you right off the exit.

Darin - maybe I could come down one Sat or Sun if you feel like working a weekend and watch and learn while you do the work??? Just a thought, and if not feasible I understand.

Dang man.....kinda sucks. If you need yet another set of hands to help out, let me know!

Sorry brother, the ones I have are 4:88s. If you don't find a set in the next few weeks, when I do finally get to rebuilding the troopie's thirds, you can have the 4:10s out of there.

I just can't get the stupid cone washers out on the rear axle, them bitches are in there real good:mad:

Alex, are you using a brass hammer / drift ? If so you might also try hitting on the shaft itself both on the front / sides. ONLY if you are using brass though. Spray some PB blaster also on them.

I have actually bent the studs before trying so hard to get them things off.

Time to go up to the 4.88's.....
sucks that happened though.

Would love to, but just don't have the coin right now. Blew too much on tires/wheels and am buying Jerry's 45 rear axle.

No worries Alex. Do you want to part with the 4.88's? If so, condition and price? MAYBE I will just keep her in the garage for a couple months and save up (depleted the Cruiser coffers here recently). Since I'll be dropping the rear 3rd to put in the FF I'm getting from Jerry, it might be worth the wait if I can get the parts at a reasonable price.

DUDE, hold the phone. Jerry's got 4.11s in his 45 diffs right? Get that axle, strip the R&P out of it for your ARB and you're golden!
