if rust gets between the front fender and the fender brace is it possible to fix/repair or will i always come back? if so should i find new fenders or used old ones? the rust is not real bad, but it is between the bracket and the fender and has shown itself up top. not sure what the best solution is. thanks for the input.

A picture would help us out but if the rust is comming through the front side it can be reparied but it may be less hassel to find fenders. I have not searched for them as that is one part of my truck that is not rusted. I just got a new used bib. The reason was not because my original bib could not be fixed but that it was at the point that the work involved to fix it was not worth the cost of the used one.

Depending on how bad the rust is there are several methods to remove it. Done right it should not come back but doing it right can be a difficult.

Cheers,

Jim

i will post some pics tom. when i return to work. the truck is at work. i know what you mean about the the time thing. we are going with the truck that actually has a little more rust on the pans b/c the exterior of the truck is in incredible shape and will require very little repair to be very straight. both lv's have rusted floors so we figure that is the area that once repaired and then "linexed" no one will really ever see them anyhow but the outside you have to spend hours to get it right and this one is beautiful, just surface rust only.

fender pics

they don't show much, but the rust is exactly where the brace is weleded. not sure if i should try to fix this or plan on buying new fenders? i don't want to waste a lot of time it is just gong to come back, but i know the POR 15 products are suppose to work mirilces? the patch/spot you see is where the PO had body filled over the rust. I just quickly chipped it out.

I had some rust on my 45 fenders that looks like it was a little worse than what you have and i went ahead and got some from Dan on here brand new.

They were for an newer model one but i went ahead and tried them and they fit perfect. They are OEM. Get with Dan about the price, as i have no idea what i paid and really do not want to go thru all my reciepts right now, the wife might not be happy knowing how much i spent on this thing. But i also know Matt used them also. I think they worked out to be about 100.00 more than CCOT but i knew they would be OEM.

Don't use CCOT fenders. I have heard really bad things from a couple of people about fitment.
