Curious if a four wheel alignment is something that is actually necessary on these vehicles. Following the lift installation, I had the front end aligned. I recently made some adjustments to front end height and called the dealership (same one that did the first alignment) and they suggested a four wheel alignment this time. From the research I've done, it sounds like this was something necessary for front wheel drive vehicles.

Anyone know if our land cruisers would benefit from a four wheel alignment versus just a front end alignment? Or, is this just another unnecessary money grab for the dealership?

Thanks

On most solid axle, rear wheel drive vehicles, there aren't any adjustments to be made on the rear. The technician will still need to install the alignment heads on the rear tires. Some shops only have one menu item for a 4-wheel alignment, regardless of if adjustments can be made on both axles. Some shops offer a 2-wheel alignment for a little less. The dealer I worked at only offered 4-wheel alignment on the menu for the same price for all vehicles, the tech was paid the same on all vehicles. In my experience, it wasn't a money maker for the dealer as the hour rate was around $70 for alignments and the shop hour rate was around $150 per repair hour.
