front door replacment speakers

Few weeks ago I went to get some MB Quartz 6.5" speakers installed in the front doors, dudes told me that it was 3+ hours instalation because they had to make brackets for the speakers. True or not? if true what can I mount without making custom stuff?

Yes, most likely it has to be custom made. Every Toyota I have ever put aftermarket speakers in has had some kind of customer speaker mount made to fit the factory hole. Now is it 3 hours? No way. All that the professional installer I had do was take a piece of press board and cut out to match the toyota hole, then cut that out to fit the speaker, just made a little plate in other words. I think it took like 20 minutes extra time total. Probably cost an extra $10 in materials. Hope this helps, it would be pretty easy to do yourself.

Go to www.crutchfield.com

They list a bunch of speakers that will fit. The downside is the best ones they carry are Polk Audio, Infinity, and Boston Acoustics. However, their speakers come with the necessary "bracket" needed for the install. If you didn't want to fab the bracket yourself, you could buy the bracket from Crutchfield and mount the MB Quartz speakers yourself, given the mounting depth is not greater than one of the recommended Crutchfield speakers.

Go get some Eclipse speakers to match your unit. I had, based on your recommendation, an Enclipse unit installed for my 100 without adding speakers. Could not be happier.

Anyway, the guy was pushing some Eclipse speakers-said it would take no more than one hour to install if not less.
