Hope someone can give me some direction here.
Working on a wrecked 2000 Land Cruiser. When we got it, the front differential would lock up when trying to move the truck. It would roll about one turn of the tire, but then stop. By the time we realized what was happening, we busted the front R&P, by stepping on the gas pedal The differential carrier/gears appeared to be ok.
Anyways, I ordered a complete used front end, when it came, I turned the piniopn flange and the same thing is happening. It locks up after about 1.5 revolutions. I have not taken it apart, but suspect the ring/pinion are binding (hopefully not broken yet). See video link: http://youtu.be/P8glo1-74E4
My dillema is, once I take it apart, I won't be able to verify that it's binding. Should I just replace the crush sleve and try to reassemble it, to see if it stops binding? or could something else have shifted beside the pinion?
How would you guys approach it?
Also, is there a printed procedure for LC differential setup online somewhere?
Thanks in advance for any advice
