Well i just picked up a 2004 Taco and it needs a better front bumper, id like to see some pics of what yall are doing to get an idea of what the look lke on the trucks. id like to get an ARB but they can be heavy and costly. so i dont know what to do!

buy an ARB.

Or search - a ton of threads here, 4x4wire, YotaTech and Pirate on this topic.

Yeah 2x on the ARB.

I say this for a couple of reasons:

They are about $800 new to your door, winch compatable, powdercoated (black only), and bolts on in about 1-2 hrs.

HOWEVER,

How good are your fab skills? How much time do you want to or have to build a one-off bumper. What equipment do you have access to since better the equipment = better finished product.

There is definately a cool / pride factor I understand but these are just some considerations - my $.02.

hey Racedirt, thank i like the rear bumper with the tire swing away but im leaning to an ARB

I like their rear bumper too but already built mine and it does the job.
The tube bending is sweet and matches the tube on the ARB pretty well.

Don't forget to upgrade your springs no matter what you put up front, but my vote would be for an ARB as well.

im going to buy an AB for the front and the rear bumper from above then an aux fuel tank. start building it into an Expo rig. thanks Guys

Just saw a new Tacoma here in town with an ARB bumper pained the same color as his truck. It looked
really nice and of course they are bullitproof.

and of course they are bullitproof.

No they're not. I have seen MANY ARB bumpers that are dented, bent, and rusted. ARB Bumpers don't handle the rocks very well.

have you seen any with bullet holes though?:hillbilly:

ya i do like the S1787W more then the ARB . the hoops make the truck look mad i think, i emailed about a price and shipping

I am ordering my rear bumper from All Pro Offroad tomorrow. For the front I think I am going with a TJM T-17. Not quite as heavy as the ARB. You can get them at a good price from here:

Sonoran Steel Custom Metal Fabrication L.L.C.

What kind of rear bumper style are you going with? I'm looking at
rear bumper options as well, something as tough as the ARB up front if
I can find it.

Here is All Pro's:

But I have been liking this guy's on Ebay:

eBay Motors: Toyota Truck OFFROAD BUMPER 4x4 4WD Tacoma 84-2004 (item 220250737251 end time Jul-06-08 11:25:19 PDT)

I like the side protection the All Pro one offers but I like the more durable look of the Ebay one.

I may change my mind yet today!!

I would love a pair of Armorologys (or a couple other customs) but I am on a budget and have to keep costs down some.

i think im going with the 4X Innovations rear bumper with the tire swing away.
