Has anybody heard of stock bumper extensions for the 60/62? I've heard them talked about as a way to mount a winch but have never seen them or confirmed they exist. Of course, since my truck isn't even running right now, I probably shouldn't even be worrying about this!

There *are* indeed front bumper extensions, OEM parts for mounting the PTO winch to the front of a 60 series. These don't only include frame horn extensions, but also two flat sections that cover the gap between the front valance and the bumper. Kinda neat looking, kinda ugly, and IMHO, not very effective, since it pushes the bumper straight out and really decreases the approach angle, much more so than with aftermarket bullbars. If you're an OEM fan, this might be an option, I'm assuming it could be adapted to an aftermarket electric winch or copied (fabricated).

You can see pictures and a blow-up schematic on Specter's catalog.

I agree--pretty ugly. I think I'll try to fabricate something myself. All I need, it seems to me, is to bring the framerails out another 6 inches or so, then put a piece of flat iron between them for the winch to sit on. Won't that work?

So your saying you need another 6"? :flipoff2:
:D :D

I have been putting a lot of thought into bumpers. If you go with the design you are talkign about, would you be doing any reinforcement of the bumper ends? If not, they aren't going to last long, they bend really easily and offer no protection to the body. Nice thing about them is that they bed back really easily.

If you are going to extend the stock bumper out and mount a winch behind it I would recomend you do a lot of reinforcement behind the bumper to make it more sturdy. Probably a LOT easier to just toss the stock bumper and throw an ARB winch bar out there, but I am still leaning at doing a custom bumper to look more stock but be more functional than stock.

I have some bumper extensions. Shipping might be prohibitive cause of were I live though. PM me if interested.

I know it effects approach angle and all, but I kind of like it. Gary Waggoner's is set up like that, and if you look at Patrick Belle-Oudry - he's got a cool bumper setup...

Actually, just look under the readers rides there are a handful of differnt setups, including the OEM estensions - and they don't look like they effect approach all that much differently than the bull bar...take a look
