Have an annoying clunk in my front left wheel, replaced wheel bearings inspected it can't find out. Was going to put an a e/air locker and upgrade brakes/hubs etc later on down the track, thinking due to being unable to locate and diagnose the problem I'll be doing this sooner. Any opinions on the best gear and pros and cons air lockers vs e lockers would be greatly appreciated thank you.

E-lockers, in addition to finding complete and operational lockers, you have to poach all the circuitry and goodies that go along with it. And I cannot remember when I had my diffs off my troopie, but you may have to modify the axle housings to fit the E-locker housings. You will definitely have to replace a few of the studs to longer ones as the carrier is a little different.

Air lockers, no modifications to the axle housings, but add the compressor and air lines. Possibility of getting mousture in the system and failing, a few instances of the carriers failing, but few and far between.

Search around a bit in the 80 series section, thats where the bulk of E-locker threads will be. Tons of E versus Air threads.

For gears, if you are doing a rebuild, then you have the chance to change gear ratios up or down.

I added the TJM Pro Lockers to my troopie, got them at a better price point than the ARBs at the time. Hopefully I can get the troopie back on the road and try them out:grinpimp:

Front diff has already been rebuilt, was thinking an e locker with new calipers, rotors, hubs and cvs

Well, if you already rebuilt your front, you'd have to do another rebuild as you have to swap all your bits to an E-locker carrier anyway.

Also, if you go with factory E-lockers, you will have to source the long spline axle shafts as the LSD rear comes with the short spline shaft. I don't know if you need the long splines on front E-locker axle shaft, I haven't had one apart but i am pretty sure it is a similar design with the sliding collar.

The E-locker are great, only real issue I would see in the build up part is you are buying used, potentially 15-20 years old. So what condition third you'd be able to source, if the e-locker motors work, act, etc, etc. With an air locker, it's new gear:meh:

Air lockers seem to be the go then haha, only reason I thought e locker is I have a compressor for my adjustable shocks, didn't really want to be running 2 compressors but it sounds heaps easier

Looking forward to the report.I have been considering them for some time.By the way ,these are the old Mcnamara lockers upgraded with TJM painted on them

If you have your compressor mounted in the car already you can use that to run the lockers
