Clarence and or Keith y'all want to have a work day one day next week? I've got to do CV boots and contemplating ordering the rotors and pads bamabrock found on eBay that appear identical to powerstop for $227 for all 4

I welcome anyone else that wants to play hooky from work for a day. I'm sending my kids to PCB for the week for keg stand school.

I'm game for a weekend day, but I can't play hooky next week.

These are the brakes I bought. I can tell zero difference between them and the ones sold by several of the outfitters. I got the rears on but forgot to order gaskets and seals for the front. They should be on the way from Lowe toyota and I can only work on them during Saturday afternoon or sundays. its tax season for me. I also need to install the cv bands I got from pfran.

I'm good with Sunday if anyone else is. I've been looking a lot at the FSM and this thread:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/388534-cv-boots-replaced-directions.html

which if I am reading correctly I don't have to tear down the hubs and rotors to redo the front CV's which will make it a lot easier. I'm still trying to figure out if a pittman puller is even required if you are only doing CV's as Nick (2000UZJ) seems to indicate it is not.

The FSM indicates I will need a press to press in a new seal but the mud link doesn't show that.

Ok drivers side done. Passenger side should be easier. Big thanks to Matthew and to John for the phone a friend in the middle. Passenger side Friday I believe.

Were your suspicions correct about not having to tear down the hub and rotor and all?

You don't have to tear apart the hub but you do have to pull the upper control arm. Wasn't easy but got it done and it will be a lot easier the second time on the passenger side.

Sounds like you are the new expert front axle rebuild guru! Glad it went well and the other side will be much easier.

Both sides done and again a big thanks to Matthew for his help and John for the phone a friend. Passenger side much easier since we knew what we were doing.
