Unfortunately it wasn’t apparent where the leak was coming from.

I am confident the shock mount horn was dry above (should have ruled out the o-ring), and the leak/wet was originating at the top of the shock body between the shock and the frame, while installed. The old o-ring was in great shape, I put it next to my new one and couldn’t tell the difference.

But the old shock after cleaning up looks great. I’m not sure, other than something got fixed since it isn’t leaking now. Would be interesting to put this old shock under pressure somehow and see if it leaks from a seam around the top.

🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks again.

Could be a worn O-ring. I wouldn't expect a worn O-ring to look visibly bad so that's my guess here if that shaft looks good. Either way, great pictures. Thanks for sharing!

Enjoy the new ride. :)

I just did this on my '04 this week. Noticed AHC fluid leak under driver's side front. Researched a ton on here and narrowed down to O Ring or corroded top of "shock". I quickly found the culprit after I removed the shock. Some AHC fluid shot out at angle that it shouldn't.

Yours looks very similar to mine. I dried mine off and sat it on my workbench while I cleaned up the shock tower and frame. You can see where I have a small pinhole leak.

I also changed out all 4 globes.
