We were doing our research for our first camping trip of the year and fell upon Acres of Wildlife in Southern Maine. Sheri was reading the 2008 schedule of events and the weekend of May 16-18 reads: "Attention all Toyota Landcruiser owners! Bring your Landcruiser and get one free night camping with a 2 night stay" Needless to say we'll be there with the HJ

Their website is www.acresofwildlife.com if anyone wants to come join us.

Wow...haven't thought about that place in years. I went when I was 9 years old and it rained like hell.

From thier website:

May 16-18: RADIO CONTROL FUN! When you check in let us know what style of R/C you have. We’ll be full of surprises!! You show us what you can do! This is the time for you to strut your stuff!!! We can’t wait! Bring Boat, Plane, any R/C welcome!! We’ll also have Bingo, Make-Your-Own Sundae($), Hayless Hayride, Arts & Crafts($) and more! Check out our “Dirt Course” for cars/trucks/bikes, the Beach for boats and Moody Field for planes. For an extra bonus!! Attention all Toyota Landcrusier owners! Bring your Landcruiser and get one free night camping! (Two night minimum required.)

Does this mean RC Landcruiser or full size? If you bring one of each do you get two nights free? :hhmm: Too bad the Tamiya LC isn't out yet, we could set up a rock course!

Figures, we'll be up that way for 5 days the following weekend!

To hijack a little, anyone know Portland? What is a don't miss type thing?

Lane

When I made the reservation, I didn't ask about the Landcruiser discount or what was the connection, but figured we would take advantage of it anyway. Sheri has to work memorial day weekend, so we thought we would holiday the weekend prior.

sounds fun
maybe we'll fire up the troopy and bump over
1st annual east coast 45 run?

East Coast 45 Run?

If you guys are serious, let's make it official.

We'll see what there might be for trails in the area and we can have a cookout afterwards. We've already got reservations and will be at the campground from Friday until Monday so we just need to pick a day or days?

There's an "entertainment" club there that's alright some nights.

I'm sure I can talk Bette into going there! (yea sure)

we would prolly do fri sat nite
could call saturday the run
lotsa class six type stuff
some lumber land within hour
not sure if Abbott Mt is open this year but would make excellent day trip...
is in Shapleigh Me
OR we could hang out and play with R/C toys all day!
I know the CG owner, will give a call

who is in?

Sounds great Kina!! I think we went to Abbott Mt quite a few years ago in the white 4runner and it was a lot of fun. Should we make another thread so that everyone knows we're doing a 45 run?

yes the FS did close Abbott on a seasonal basis
there was talk of it being open
not sure
troopy sputtered to life yesterday after hours of cleaning rotten diesel out:p
should make it...

Just wanted to see if anyone made it for a little camping???

Yes, my family was there for three days. We did get one night free as promised, and we were the only cruiser. I guess the owner's son is a fan of Landcruisers, but he never stopped by our site to talk. The stay was okay.
