Howdy! I want to invite any or all of you to come out and meet other 4-wheelers this Saturday:

Free 4x4 Clinic & Trail Run on Trail & Club Run Etiquette
Saturday, February 23, 2008

Join the Arizona Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition (AZOHVC) for an easy run in Camp Verde on February 23, 2008 emphasizing Club Run Ethics, Etiquette, and Protocols, or “C.R.E.E.P.” for short. Learn some of the do’s and don’ts on the trail, guided by veteran 4-wheelers.

This is a FREE event, open to all 4x4 owners, hosted by the AZOHVC, and sponsored by Sedona Jeep School, Farabee Jeep Rentals, Absolute Offroad and Sedona Offroad.

The event starts with a club run orientation including preparation, following, communication, and Tread Lightly. On the trail, the group will have the opportunity to discuss public land etiquette around ranching leases, mining claims, and water sources.

To sign-up, contact Nena Barlow at (928) 274-0570 or SedonaJeepSchool@yahoo.com

Date: Saturday, February 23, 2008

Time: 9:30 AM to Noon, approximately (plus optional afternoon run).

Sign-up: Email the following information to sedonajeepschool@yahoo.com or call (928) 274-0570:
1. Your name
2. Vehicle description so we can more easily identify everyone during the event (year, model, color, any visually distinguishing features)

Meeting Place: Trailhead at FR 361 and Hwy 260, Prescott National Forest--located between Camp Verde and Cottonwood. No facilities at the trailhead.

Trail: FR 361 “Conger Mine Road”. This is an easy trail for any stock 4x4. It will take us through some cattle country, past some old mines, and near natural springs, with stops to talk about the do’s and don’ts of each of those areas. Great views! Event will take approximately 2.5 hours.

Directions: From Camp Verde, take Hwy 260 west towards Cottonwood. The trailhead is approximately 5 miles west on Hwy 260. It is directly across from Thousand Trails Road, and approximately 0.7 miles on the left past the Steve Coury dealership.
GPS coordinates: 34º 39.629N, 111º 57.921W

What to bring:
1. 4x4 vehicle with decent tires. 4x4 means your rig has a transfer case and a 4L option. Contact coordinator if you are not sure.
2. Spare tire.
3. At least one liter of water per person & trail snacks.
4. Layered outdoor clothing and tough shoes, suitable for temperatures ranging from 35 to 65 degrees.
5. Kids welcome. Dogs not recommended.
6. Smile! This will be a fun event and a great opportunity to meet other 4-wheelers.

Happy trails,

There is good news and bad news:

GOOD:

Space: We do still have slots available and we will not turn anyone away! Please try to give me a heads up so we have enough packets for everyone.

Weather: Although raining today, all forecasts still insist it will clear out tonight and be gorgeous tomorrow--65 degrees! This trail will not pose any unpleasantness even if it is wet. Houston, WE ARE GO for launch!

BAD:

Jeeps are outnumbering Toyotas more than 2 to 1--are you going to let this happen?!? :D

:cheers:This probably does not reflect a lack of interest so much as a more seasoned, aware, and responsible group of offroad users among the Toyota owners;). That said, I'd be there but I was wheeling in Sedona last weekend:steer:.

wr0d. I'd be there, but I have plans all weekend. :frown:

6:31 AM: Good Morning Campers! :D

As promised, the skies are crystal clear and gorgeous this morning--41 degrees on my patio, so not even ice to worry about! Looking forward to seeing y'all out on the trail!

Brandon and I went out exploring on Mingus after the 1st run and found about 1000x more mud and snow which really made that trail so much more fun...

...at least for us anyways. We found a few people who had less fun than us.

Busted! :D Hey, Sy, don't tell my Jeeps--they get jealous and moody.

Cody--was that guy in the yellow Toy still around? You should have come with us up General Crook--no snow, but a few good rocks, and brownie-batter-quickcrete mud!

Thanks all for coming--great showing for CSC! I will post up a link to the Post-Run as soon as it is live. Lance, Cody, Howie, Andrew, Dave--great to meet all of you--I look forward to hitting more trails with y'all!

Happy trails,

Nope, there were a few random trucks like that - that just slid off the trail and got stuck, but no drivers or passengers to be found to help out.

Ugh.....opened my big fat keyboard.....Mouth. Actually I was hopin you could help us with trails to check out. Maybe I can get TC and some of the other HCR's up there.
I would be happy to! Though, with what I saw you do on Payette, I daresay you will find Sedona rather sedate. ;) But we do have our play areas and you can't beat the scenery!

I enjoy the scenic stuff as much or more than the rocks anymore. I'll let you know for sure when something might be happening.

Thanks
