frameing nailer won't fire

it's a porter-cable fr350.

even when the nose trigger is depressed, the dumb thing will fire only less then half of the time. if i pull the bar attached to the nose trigger all the way back, then it will fire. i know what your thinking already "you need to adjust the depth on the nose trigger (using an allen wrench) but i've already tried that. i've also got my compressor adjusted so it's putting out 100psi which is right in the middle of where it will operate at.
i've also oiled the nailer.... and i don't know what else to do.

any suggestions?

oh, and if i depress the nose trigger, pull the finger trigger, i get a lot of air coming from a little slot right behind the finger trigger (and no nail shooting out). this will continue to blow air until i let go of the finger trigger.....

I'd get it fixed. Have you been oiling before (or after) each use?

check behind trigger sometimes there is a pin that attatches trigger to actual fiiring mechanism and the pin will slip out, not pushing the firing pin far enough. try firing it by directly pushing the pin behind the trigger. Also sometimes on old gun the driver will not return all the way and will by pass air when you hit trigger. I had that pin problem the other day, just about took the whole thing apart before i noticed that little pin was out

Looks like the same gun I have. If the selector is on single fire or the restricted mode, as Porter Cable calls it, then the trigger safety mechanism can be a big pain in the buttocks. I switched it to the rapid fire setting and used it carefully. Haven't had a problem since...

fixed it!
the nose trigger adjustment was kind.... skewed. had to skew it the other way, but once tightened up, it works like a dream.
