Repairing the inner frame box on my cruiser above he rear leaf spring hanger. Going to cut out the rusty area and weld in a new patch plate. Then clean out the inside of the frame. My question is. Is there any rust inhibiter to spray in the frame to slow the cancer process down or what has anyone else done. Any info would be good.
Thanks

Personally I would clean it out really well do your repair with some good thick plate, and go get the entire truck Krown oil sprayed, ask them to concentrate alot on your inner frame and maybe even pick up an extra pail of it for applying in the frame yourself every 6 months or so.

The krown oil is the best stuff on the market in my opinion, even with water present Krown won't just sit on top of it, it will creep underneath and fourm a barrier to protect the metal. I hope you can find one in your area they seem to be very popular in north america.

Any kind of oil system will work I just recommend krown for there great service and great product.

cheers

Hey, you can repair an already damaged and rusty frame or replace it. I've had the rust on my truck completely removed by Peter at Boyd Autobody in Tsawwassen about 10 years ago. He did a great job but the frame is one thing that, once it starts rusting, it's really tough to stop. He had put in patch pieces and that up until 2-3 years ago when he said that it was time for a new frame because it could not be repaired safely any longer. I'd check with him and I totally trust his opinion. If you need a frame I know where the good ones are! Do a search on '60 series frame swaps and look at mine done last December.

Krown is available at Aamco on Fraser Highway and 160th St. That's where I've been getting mine done.

I'm not sure if Peter is still at Boyd though as he was running in the provincial election last year. He may be your MLA!

:grinpimp: So do I :grinpimp:

Both are from HJ61's we parted out. Both will be residing under BJ60's (an 82 and an 85) and the bodies fit on...bolts simply dropped in from what I heard.

There are a number of was based inhibitors on the market. A few have been chatted about on this site. One that has not been mentioned and I would love to try is the Worth waxoil treatment. I've seen it after it has been sprayed and it looks quite thick after the carrier has evaporated.

Clean out your frame, and spray it down at least once a year after ensuring the frame is clear of mud and crap on the inside.

Here are a few links that discuss rustproofing.

Thanks very much for all the info. I am going to locate the Krown product and give it a go.
