Tahoe National Forest Lifts Fire RestrictionsNevada City …Fire restrictions in the Tahoe National Forest (TNF) will be lifted at midnight on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, announced Steve Eubanks, Forest Supervisor. The cooler temperatures and wetter weather prompted Forest Service officials to end restrictions. This enables recreationists to have campfires in the backcountry and operate internal combustion engines in the forest. As fall progresses, visitors are reminded to be very fire safe as the weather can turn warm, dry and windy. “Please do your part to be fire safe. This past summer, 65 abandoned campfires were discovered and put out. This continues to be a major frustration. People are not using common sense when it comes to fire safety,” stated Eubanks.

Woodcutting remains open until November 25 or until wet weather requires the closing of roads.
