So the domed never came stock in any 2F?

9/75-7/80 domed.... 08/80-08/87 flat... but the domed you have are what I've seen in MAF hi-performance engines........

So the timing was off?

A high compression ratio results in more mechanical energy that an engine can squeeze from its air-fuel mixture. High ratios place increased oxygen and fuel molecules into a reduced space; thus, they allow increased power at the moment of ignition. Higher compression ratios, however, also make detonation more likely. You will need to use a higher octane fuel........

I used my spare engine and went through and freshened it up. It's received new rings and mains and a complete Toyota Gasket set. I installed the main block on Mar 25th. I finished the install and got it running on the 31st.

What happened to the old pistons??

Not a single thing wrong with it as long as the pistons are in good working order.

i.e. not excessively worn.

Wow, those wrist pins really weren't lined centered too well. I mean I did mine by eye and they were a hair off on some, but not that much.
So the general consensus is that the high comp led to detonation and caused the bearings to fail? Why are the sides of the rods looking so worn?

When did you blow the engine?

Last week when I ran into town to get some supplies from the body shop. .

I just assume it is blown.

Terrible ignition pinging under load when on flat ground (hwy 99 and hwy 198). Doesn't have enough power to use 4th gear. Top speed is 57mph.

Used 2 quarts of oil on the way home (20 miles). Oil is coming out all the rear mail and front main seal when running. No coolant leaks or consumption. Everything points to excessive blow by/no compression.

I will have to do a compression check but I think I know the outcome.
